My first blog attempt

I opened this account in January but was never too sure if I should do this until now.  I'm a rookie at blogging, but I thought I would give it a try.  Now that I have been off for 4 weeks, my days are starting to blend together and believe it or not I am so ready to start school.  There is only so much of daytime television that I can handle.  I'm reading three books at a time and can't commit to just one right now. So this is what my crazy yet boring summer is like.  Don't get me wrong I'm enjoying it, we need this break so that we can be ready to run full speed ahead when school starts.
I've been going crazy on Pinterest just pinning away all the great ideas that I can find for my classroom.  So far I have way too many pins so now I need to slow it down some more and actually put those into action. After this 4th of July week I'll be putting my plans into action and also posting lots of pics.  HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY EVERYONE!!

  1. I start a new position next year as a Teaching and Learning Coach where I will be working with teachers K-5. Maybe it's the new position and the nervousness of something new, but I am dreading going back lol. I even had a bad dream about it the other day.

I am a fellow Pinterest addict. We'll have to check out each other's Pins sometime. Did you know you can add a Follow My Pins link onto your website? It's quite simple. If you need help, let me know! I am a techie geek. lol

I like your website. Keep it up. It takes a little bit to get it going, but you are on the right track by finding Linky parties. It's a great way to get your blog out there.

    1. Thank you for following me, I have 3 followers already thanks to the Linky Party! I can't believe how much fun I am having with this.

I used to be an Instructional Coach at the school I am at for four years and I really enjoyed it. I went back to the classroom last year when they cut my position due to all the budget cuts. It is different and believe it or not very rewarding.

My first year I missed having my own classroom and being with the kids everyday/all day long. The one thing my principal would tell me is to think of the school as my classroom and the teachers were my students. It was hard to grasp that concept at first but it wasn't too long before I got used to it.

My advice to you is don't get too overwhelmed and you need to know that you can't do it all in one day and you will need to prioritize and just go from there. Good luck with your new position, it's not bad at all. Don't worry too much and soon you will be having good dreams.

  2. Lol... Thanks for the advice. I do tend to take on a lot so I will definitely heed your advice. Leaving the classroom was a HUGE decision for me. It was the only thing holding me back from applying for the position and accepting it once I was offered it. The answer came to one day when I was sitting on the carpet with a group of my 5th graders and one them told me another student didn't know something that my class did. My response was, "Unfortunately, I can only help those that I teach." It was then that it dawned on me that with this position, I can help many classrooms of students. I am glad I am following your blog. Hopefully I can pick your brain throughout the year. :) lol

    Congrats on your followers! :)

    1. The teachers you are working with are so lucky to have you as their coach and you definitely will be improving more children's lives way beyond your classroom. It's not always easy working with adults, but it is rewarding. I will be more than happy to help you with any advice that you may need. Thanks for recommending the Pin button, it was easy. I'm slowly getting the hang of this.
